history's mysteries
A short piece on the London Bridge on CBS Sunday Morning reminded me of this 1957 Disney cartoon. When we were little, a family friend made several vhs tapes of cartoons (we didn't have cable) for us and "The Truth About Mother Goose" was on one of them. The historical contexts of classic nursery rhymes are revealed to be much more somber than today's versions seem. Sort of creepy for children but I love the animation. London Bridge is in part two - the illustration below is the work of Eyvind Earle (click to enlarge).
