shop 'til you drop

i've been trying to navigate around the life archives (not enough focus on old photography if you ask me) and came across these southdale shopping mall interior photos from 1957. southdale was america's first indoor shopping mall you know. developed by the dayton family and built in edina in 1955 (a suburb of minneapolis) it revolutionized retail as "a new form designed to reflect and serve changing patterns of suburban living."

more southdale mall history here.
