What's new?

It's been a busy November for Rank & File, and I'll tell you why, in four parts. 

Pt 1 // Added new vintage finds to R&F online, which would make magical holiday gifts for your special people (#buyvintage). Wouldn't this vintage sweetheart Waechtersbach (say that five times fast) pitcher look great storing kitchen utensils on the counter?

Pt. 2 // Set up R&F in a cozy downstairs booth at Mall of St. Paul, my favorite Twin Cities antique mall. I've been shopping here since college so it's pretty cool to be on the other side of things and hopefully make some magic for shoppers myself.

Pt. 4 // Getting E's Emporium ready for this weekend's sale. The shop looks extra fun, super cozy and so full of awesome vintage furniture and etc. it's hard not to want to move right in.

Monday Morning

A grey November morning here at Rank & File HQ, playing podcast catch up (Topics with Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter is one of my faves) and getting organized for the week. Here are a few scenes from my morning:

Retro Weekend

We are greeting May 3 with a dusting of snow in Minneapolis this morning, but that's not stopping us at E's Emporium (open rain or shine).

1st Anniversary // Get Your Teak On

Time flies when you're having fun! We've had the Emporium open for a year already and we're celebrating Saturday night. If you are in the Twin Cities area and love you some vintage furniture, please stop by! Don't forget to bring your dancin' shoes to, you know, get your teak on.

Indigenous

I'm looking forward to the exhibit Eight Seasons in Sápmi, the Land of the Sámi People, opening this weekend at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. Family lore has it that we are part Sámi from Norway, so I have a particular interest in my possible nomadic reindeer herding history. The Sámi are an indigenous people whose nation spans Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Photographs by Brigitte Aarestrup and work by Kurt Seaberg will be on display, along with traditional Sámi artwork and artifacts.

Sunday Calendar: Round the Moon

This week's calendar is local: A beautiful handmade Full Moon Calendar by Minneapolis' own Isa Gagarin for  Ship & Shape. An original carbon transfer drawing was adapted for a limited edition lunar landscape screen print.

Famed illustrator and graphic novelist Chris Ware will be at Rain Taxi's Twin Cities Book Festival this Saturday! There are plenty of people who can say intelligent things about his work, but I'm always drawn to his sense of perspective and appreciate his storytelling.
